Great Blue Heron Welcoming Fall Div. II, Second place, Category B, Watercolor/Acrylic Painting

This painting is a watercolor painting utilizing several pours and multiple color washes. In this painting, I was inspired by the beginning of fall when leaves were beginning to change to fall colors. When I composed the painting, I wanted the Great Blue Heron to be the detailed focal point with undefined shapes and complementary colors surrounding the bird and having her pop out of the maze of colors. Also notice the detailed and random dance of complements of colors that weaved an interesting patchwork of background shapes and colors.
