Art Hill, St. Louis
Inspired by Picasso landscapes, I decided on the iconic Art Hill in Forest Park with the St. Louis Art Museum at the top of the hill and the famous statue of “St. Louis” from which the city derives its name. For native St. Louisans such as myself, it is a special place. A relic of the 1904 World’s Fair, we have picnicked, frolicked and in the winter sledded down its slope hoping not to slide into the basin below. Techniques include painting, appliqué, embroidery and trapunto.
