Pure Texas
Div. II, First place, Studio Fine Craft
Starting with odd rectangles of felted wool, I stared for months as to what to do and then it came to me, an homage to Texas. Starting with couching recycled t-shirt material in the shape of Texas and of course the word Texas enclosed within it. Around it, I freehand embroidered the different state symbols along with some Texasisms. It is not only a piece of art, but a learning tool. In researching the different state symbols, I learned so much more about our state.
